I missed Thanksgiving,

Christmas and New Year’s

And so for my birthday, I tried

Then it rained indoors

And I found cleaning

An excuse to stay

For at least one more day

And I tried again

But every pothole screamed

“it’s all your fault”

Blame for something

That might not happen at all
